INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON YOUTH PROGRAM STRATEGY IN THE MILLENIUM AUGUST 31 to SEPTEMBER 2, 2000

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON YOUTH PROGRAM
STRATEGY IN THE MILLENIUM

VENUE: University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

DATE: August 31 to Sept. 2, 2000

The World Youth Population defined by the United Nations as the age 15-24
is estimated to be 1.03 billion or 18% of the world's population. The
majority of the World Youth Population (84% in 1995) lives in developing
countries. These numbers are rapidly expanding in these countries without
any proportionate expansion in "institutional response systems" that would
have absorbed all the consequences of this expansion. In some developing
countries the population of 15-24 is about 64%. Where do we go from here?

WHY PARTICIPATE IN YOUTH PROGRAM STRATEGY?

The conference is designed to cross link activities and ministries to foster the
development of young people especially as we are entering the Millennium
Years.

The intent of this conference is to look at the future of Youth Programs
approach with a deliberate intention to Advocate and Influence positive
Youth Activities in the developing countries. It is also the intention of the
conference to set a new pace in the areas of Youth emancipation in the
Year 2000 and beyond.

Preparations are in full gear for a dynamic international youth conference
and the first of its kind in Canada, with a global vision aimed at moving
the Youth agenda forward.

This century is going to be a critical century for all nations of the world in the
areas of resource re-allocation as far as youth rehabilitation is concerned,
considering the rapid population increase of the 20th century.

There is no better time for this type of a conference than now, if we are to
promote peace, reduce crime, and have a healthy community in the 21st
century.

Finally, all countries representatives are invited to present an overview of
the situation of youth programs, problems and lessons learned so far in their
countries.

Upon your registration, all participation documents including letter of
invitation to procure your VISA, will be mailed to you. You are encouraged
to use fax or express mail for speedy correspondence. (DHL is the official
courier for this conference.)

We look forward to seeing you in Ottawa in August!

Yours sincerely,

Hammed Hassan-Olajokun
